Today I'm just sharing a short list of the basics that you need to get sewing.

 

1.  Thread

2.  Pincushion - makes life so much easier (click here to get this cute little pincushion)

3.  Pins* - these ones with the bright round heads work nicely

4.  Scissors* - a good pair of fabric scissors are important

5.  Small shears* - these are particularly handy to snip off thread (I use mine a lot, because the thread cutter on my machine is to far from the needle)

6.  Gauge* - very, very handy!!

7.  Fabric pen* - special ink that washes away with cold water

8.  Bobbins* - I like these metal ones for my machine

9.  Machine needles* - there are a big variety with different uses

10.  Seam picker* - to unpick seams if you want to adjust or made a mistake

11.  Measuring tape* - usually 1,5m long and marked in centimeters 

And there you have it.

The basic necessities needed to start sewing!
